Solutions
1. The month of August has 31 days, so if on the 31st day the lilies covered the pond completely, and they doubled in size each day, therefore they would cover at least half the pond on the previous day, which is August 30th.
2. Since the lilies covered at least half the pond on August 30th, then they must have covered at least one quarter the day before, which is August 29th.
3. If in the beginning there will be double the size of the lilies we had originally, then the pond would be covered completely one day earlier, which is August 30th.
